Who?
Animate is a European scheme that encourages the exchange of skills, experience and knowledge between older workers, who have recently retired or are about to retire, and younger people. The scheme in Thurrock is aimed at social care workers.
It is a 3-year programme from 2014, paid for from European funding and is made up of the following consortium:
- Thurrock Council
- e-learning Studios, UK
- University of Geneva, Switzerland
- Biomedical Research Institute for Health, Lleida, Spain
- HI-Iberia Ingenieria y Proyectos SL, Spain
Why?
Project leads, Michelle Taylor and Roxanne Scallon from Thurrock Council had seen a number of short videos and saw how it was an ideal and easily digestible format to get key information across to service users.
What?
A video explaining the Animate project was produced by Health and Care Videos and subtitled into Spanish, Catalan and French so that all members of the consortium were able to use them in their own countries.
The explainer video (in all languages) is featured on the Animate website, on the landing page of the private login area, so that it is the first thing people see when entering the site. Thurrock Council have also featured the video on their ‘Stronger Together‘ website, a partnership that promotes local, community activities that strengthen the connections between people.
